Salary: £30,000 to £34,000 per annum (negotiable based on experience)

The Setting:

  • Capacity: A “cozy” environment currently caring for 15 children.
  • Premises: A charming two-story building (currently operating solely on the ground floor).
  • Outdoor Learning: Features a dedicated outdoor area designed for active play and exploration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Deputising: Support the Nursery Manager in daily operations and assume full responsibility for administration and nursery management in their absence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all practices adhere to the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation, and Ofsted’s National Standards.
  • Staff Management: Assist with recruitment, supervise students and staff, conduct regular assessments, and identify training needs to foster a high-performing team.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage staff ratios and deployment effectively, ensuring daily routines (feeds, nappy changes, laundry, and meal supervision) are executed to a high standard.
  • Curriculum & Care: Oversee the planning of stimulating activities that support the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of every child.
  • Parent Partnership: Maintain strong, professional relationships with parents, providing regular updates and ensuring effective communication.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain rigorous records for accidents, incidents, and risk assessments. Ensure strict adherence to medication administration policies.

Requirements (What we are looking for)

  • Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Childcare (or higher).
  • Experience: At least 2–3 years of current experience in a Deputy Manager role.
  • Expertise: Proven practical knowledge of delivering high-quality learning opportunities and implementing the EYFS.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for engaging with staff, children, and parents.
  • Admin Skills: Strong organizational and IT skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and write detailed reports.
