JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a team committed to delivering the highest standards of quality care for children. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified Playworkers, pr any childcare qualified individual who has a Level 2 or higher.

A nurturing, passionate and compassionate nature is required to support all children and in particular younger children and children with additional needs.

Being passionate about Nursery and preschool education and empowering our children to reach their maximum potential is an absolute necessity.

Good communication skills both written and verbal are essential for this role. Experience of keeping records of children's development would be desirable. You should be physically fit and motivated to help children learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitate Play: Set up and manage play areas, resources, and equipment to encourage creativity, exploration, and risk-taking.

Supervise & Support: Guide children, lead activities, offer comfort, and build strong relationships, listening to their needs and worries.

Ensure Safety: Maintain a secure environment, manage risks, administer first aid if needed, and follow safety policies.

Plan Activities: Develop and deliver engaging activities like sports, arts, drama, and outings.

Communicate: Liaise with parents, carers, teachers, and other professionals about children’s progress and well-being.

Admin & Documentation: Keep records of attendance, incidents, and activities; manage stock and undertake paperwork.

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join a team committed to delivering the highest standards of quality care for children. This is an excellent opportunity for Nursery Nurses, NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualified, who are friendly, hardworking and have positive, flexible attitudes. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be working on a Rota basis between the hours of 8am to 6pm. You should have a passion for supporting children's learning.

Person Specification

  • Working as part of the management team providing professional leadership and management
  • Overseeing all rooms and effectively managing the staff team
  • Ensuring all children receive the highest standards of care and education
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintaining positive working relationships with staff, parents and carers
  • Ensuring staff are supported in their roles through the deputy's capable leadership and doing regular peer on peers, supervisions and appraisals
  • Overall management responsibility for the Day Nursery in the absence of the Manager.
  • Assist the Manager in setting and implementing objectives for policies for the Nursery within the framework of the management committee.
  • In conjunction with the Manager, to formulate, operate and evaluate a yearly programme of activities, following the guidelines of the National Curriculum, that is suitable to the age range of children.
  • Identify the physical, emotional, intellectual and developmental needs of children with special needs and offer support and relevant developmental opportunities.
  • Liaising with and support parents/carers and other family members.
  • Liaising with the Local authority and other professionals associated with the Nursery.
  • Assist and work alongside the nursery's Manager and undertake any responsibilities delegated by the Manager.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Minimum: NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • NVQ Level 5 in Childcare or Management
  • Foundation Degree (FDA) in Early Years or a related subject
  • Early Years Professional Status (EYPS)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
  • Proven experience in a leadership or senior practitioner role within a childcare setting is highly desired.



Salary:  £27,350 to £30,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
