Nursery Chef / Cook

Location: Streatham Common, London

Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per annum

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Nursery Chef for a high-quality setting based in Streatham Common. We are looking for a dedicated professional who is passionate about providing healthy, nutritionally balanced meals for children in their early years.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve fresh, nutritionally balanced meals and snacks daily.
• Menu Planning: Monitor and review menus regularly, suggesting creative and healthy changes.
• Dietary Requirements: Ensure all children’s allergies and dietary needs are catered for in strict accordance with parental and medical guidance.
• Hygiene & Safety: Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness; ensure all food hygiene regulations and Health & Safety policies are strictly followed.
• Budget & Stock Management: Order catering supplies and cleaning materials, monitoring usage to reduce waste and adhere to budgetary requirements.
• Kitchen Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is sterilized and the dining areas remain tidy and welcoming.
• Communication: Liaise with parents, staff, and visitors in a friendly, professional, and effective manner.

Applicant Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of UK experience in a professional kitchen (preferably within a childcare or school setting).
• Qualifications: Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 (or equivalent) is essential.
• Compliance: Must hold a Full Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service preferred) and be eligible to work in the UK.
• Leadership: Ability to effectively manage the kitchen and support staff.
• Commitment: Dedicated, reliable, and flexible to work within the nursery’s rota.
• Location: Must be within a reasonable commuting distance of the Streatham Common area.
