The nursery classroom was a colourful room full of tiny chairs and tables. Some little ones were scrambling to build block towers, others were painting masterpieces and some were playing dress up. That was the scene this new teaching assistant at a KT15 Addlestone nursery school encountered on his first day on the job.
To the untrained eye, this early childhood education classroom was just one big playroom. But this new teaching assistant knew that just because the children were having fun didn’t mean they weren’t learning.
Through Quint Education Matt landed his first ever role as a nursery teaching assistant when he moved in with a friend the past summer. He’d gone through the requisite training but was unable to secure a job in the field where he used to live.
After spending the holidays with his friend in KT15 Addlestone, and seeing how serene the area was with all the kind people living in it, he decided to give a try there as well and see how it’d go. Of course, within a few weeks of contacting Quint Education he got shortlisted, interviewed and hired for this role in one the best early years education centres in KT 15 Addlestone.
The KT 15 Addlestone nursery school was beautiful on the outside, and even more spectacular inside the classrooms. The children were alert and having fun at the same time. It was the definition of a healthy teaching and learning environment.
Shortly after entering the classroom, the nursery teacher signalled the children to stand and acknowledge their new nursery assistant. They all sprung up to their feet amidst laughing and clapping.
Matt introduced himself to the children, who in turn mentioned their names. The class teacher also introduced herself again to Matt as Amy and after the exchange of pleasantries, everyone was seriously back to work… building block towers, painting masterpieces, and playing dress up.
There is time to work and there is time to play but sometimes they’re all one and the same.
Matt thought to himself “I’m going to have the time of my life here with these children”, grinning from ear to ear.
